Materials Used in our Custom Translite Printing
Color Direct typically prints custom translite graphics on .015 translucent polystyrene, also known as styrene or high-impact polystyrene (HIPS). This material is commonly used for backlit retail graphics because it provides the right balance of durability, flexibility and light transmission for lightbox displays.
Depending on the project, translite graphics can also be produced on polypropylene, synthetic paper, polyester and other specialty materials. The right material depends on the display frame, lighting, installation method, expected lifespan and whether the graphic needs to ship flat, fold on site or fit into an existing fixture.
